BILL NUMBER: S4139A SPONSOR: RITCHIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to establishing a temporary New York craft beverage permit PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To allow those distillers who manufacture liquor, alcohol and spirits and have a class D license the ability to apply for a one-day permit, as is currently allowed by others who have the same license. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: To create equity and fairness for those in the craft beverage industry in their ability to apply for specific permits. Under current law, producers of specialty spirits such as farm distillers, cannot make their product available at any event. Unlike beer and wine, there is currently no permit process under New York law for distilled spirits. Beer and wine may be served at weddings and other events once a permit
