 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to authorizing  and
   directing county public welfare districts to accept paperwork remotely
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Section 65 of the social services law is amended by  adding
 a new subdivision 8 to read as follows:
   8. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, RULE, OR REGULATION TO THE CONTRARY,
 EACH  COUNTY  COMMISSIONER  OF  PUBLIC  WELFARE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
 DIRECTED TO ENSURE THAT THEIR PUBLIC WELFARE DISTRICT PROVIDES  ACCESSI-
 BLE  MEANS  FOR INDIVIDUALS SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION OR OTHER PAPERWORK
 RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE OR CARE TO DO SO REMOTELY.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
