 AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to reducing the  signature
   requirement  for  petitions for candidates for the school board of the
   city of Buffalo
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  Subdivision  2  of  section  6-136 of the election law is
 amended by adding a new paragraph (f-1) to read as follows:
   (F-1) FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF BUFFALO, COUNTY OF ERIE, TWO
 HUNDRED SIGNATURES FOR DISTRICT SEATS AND FOUR HUNDRED SIGNATURES FOR AT
 LARGE SEATS;
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided however that the
 amendments to subdivision 2 of section 6-136 of the election law made by
 section one of this act shall survive the expiration  and  reversion  of
 such  subdivision  as provided in section 4 of chapter 22 of the laws of
 2021, as amended.

   ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee
 
 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to reducing the signature
   requirement  for  petitions for candidates for the school board of the
   city of Buffalo

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Subparagraph 1 of paragraph d of subdivision 10 of section
 2553 of the education law, as amended by chapter  561  of  the  laws  of
 2019, is amended to read as follows:
   (1)  Such election for such office shall be governed by the provisions
 of the election law in the same manner as candidates for office general-
 ly to be elected by the voters of the city of Buffalo.   Notwithstanding
 section 6-142 of the election law, each such candidate for election as a
 member of the board of education from a city school subdistrict shall be
 required to file a petition containing signatures of at least [five] TWO
 hundred registered voters of such city school subdistrict in which he is
 a candidate and each candidate for election to the board of education by
 the  voters at large shall be required to file a petition containing the
 signatures of at least [one thousand] FOUR HUNDRED registered voters  of
 the city of Buffalo.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
