   printed to be committed to the Committee on Social Services
 
 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to providing  femi-
   nine  hygiene  products  at  no  cost to adults and children receiving
   temporary housing assistance

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. The social services law is amended by adding a new section
 152-c to read as follows:
   § 152-C. FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS.  ANY PROVIDER OF TEMPORARY HOUSING
 ASSISTANCE, WHICH SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, A FAMILY SHELTER,
 A SHELTER FOR ADULTS,  A  HOTEL,  AN  EMERGENCY  APARTMENT,  A  DOMESTIC
 VIOLENCE  SHELTER, A RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH SHELTER, OR A SAFE HOUSE
 FOR REFUGEES, SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE  FEMININE  HYGIENE  PRODUCTS,
 INCLUDING,  BUT  NOT  LIMITED  TO,  SANITARY  NAPKINS, TAMPONS AND PANTY
 LINERS, AT NO COST TO MENSTRUATING INDIVIDUALS.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
