BILL NUMBER: S7888 SPONSOR: HARCKHAM TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public health law, in relation to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the public health law relating to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1201-A and A. 4662-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2021, c.60, to extend the effective date from 60 days to 180 days. HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the public health law relating to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state, as proposed in legisla- tive bills numbers S. 1201-A and A. 4662-A, in relation to the effec- tiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 7-a of section 3613 of the public health law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the public health law relating to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1201-A and A. 4662-A, is amended to read as follows: 7-a. The department [in consultation with the department of education] shall [maintain a schedule setting forth when] MAKE THE CONTACT DETAILS OF DEPARTMENT-APPROVED EDUCATION OR training programs THAT offer compe- tency exams to [qualified home care services workers residing outside this state in order to fill any shortage of home care services workers working in this state. Such schedule shall be made] HOME HEALTH AIDES available on the department's website and readily accessible by the public. § 2. Section 2 of a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the public health law relating to competency exams offered to qualified home care services workers residing outside this state, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1201-A and A. 4662-A, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect on the [sixtieth] ONE HUNDRED EIGHT- IETH day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such date.
