BILL NUMBER: S8681 SPONSOR: COONEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Specialist Jason Hasenauer Memorial Highway" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To rename a portion the state highway system constituting state route two hundred fifty-nine between Lake Ontario State Parkway in the town of Parma, and state route eighteen from in the village of Hilton as the "Specialist Jason Hasenauer Memorial Parkway". SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 outlines the portion of highway to be renamed. Section 2 outlines that the renaming is ceremonial, and that the commissioner of transportation shall install and maintain the signage for the desig- nation. Section 3 is the effective date.

COONEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Specialist Jason Hasenauer Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-n to read as follows: § 344-N. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SPECIALIST JASON HASENAUER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE BETWEEN LAKE ONTARIO STATE PARKWAY IN THE TOWN OF PARMA, COUNTY OF MONROE, AND STATE ROUTE EIGHTEEN IN THE VILLAGE OF HILTON, TOWN OF PARMA, COUNTY OF MONROE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SPECIAL- IST JASON HASENAUER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3.
