BILL NUMBER: S8711 SPONSOR: CLEARE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to information concerning services for human trafficking victims in service areas main- tained by the thruway authority PURPOSE: To require the Thruway Authority to provide information concerning services for human trafficking victims in service area restrooms. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one adds a new section 389 to the public authorities law, to require the Thruway Authority to make cards or signs available in public restrooms in its service areas, containing information on services for trafficking victims, as well as the national human trafficking hotline number.

CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to information concerning services for human trafficking victims in service areas maintained by the thruway authority THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public authorities law is amended by adding a new section 389 to read as follows: § 389. INFORMATION CONCERNING SERVICES FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS IN FACILITIES AT SERVICE AREAS. 1. ANY SERVICE AREA MAINTAINED OR OPER- ATED BY THE AUTHORITY SHALL MAKE AVAILABLE IN PLAIN VIEW AND IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE AND MANNER IN THE PUBLIC RESTROOMS, INFORMATIONAL CARDS AND/OR SIGNS DEVELOPED BY: (I) THE OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE IN CONSULTATION WITH THE NEW YORK STATE INTERAGENCY TASK FORCE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING; OR (II) THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY. 2. ALL INFORMATIONAL CARDS AND SIGNS SHALL ONLY CONTAIN INFORMATION CONCERNING SERVICES FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS AND SHALL PROMINENTLY INCLUDE THE NATIONAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING HOTLINE TELEPHONE NUMBER. § 2.
