 Introduced  by  Sen.  THOMAS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
   ment Operations
 
 AN ACT extending the time within which  certain  elected  and  appointed
   officers  may  take  or  file their oaths of office or official under-
   takings
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contra-
 ry, any duly elected or appointed officer or officers within any town in
 the  state of New York as of January 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022, who
 failed to take or file their oath  of  office  or  official  undertaking
 within the statutory prescribed period shall be permitted to continue to
 serve  in  such  capacity for the duration of their term upon the taking
 and filing of their required oath  of  office  or  official  undertaking
 consistent  with sections 10 and 11 of the public officers law within 30
 days of the effective date of this act. Such elected and appointed offi-
 cers who take and file their oath  of  office  or  official  undertaking
 shall  be deemed to have been continuously serving in office as of Janu-
 ary 1, 2022 or the date prescribed by their election through  March  31,
 2022.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 AN  ACT  extending  the time within which certain appointed officers may
   take or file their oaths of office or official undertakings

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 file  their  oath of office or official undertaking within the statutory

 required oath of office or official undertaking consistent with sections
 10  and  11  of  the public officers law within 30 days of the effective
 date of this act. Such officers appointed to a county position who  take
 and file their oath of office or official undertaking shall be deemed to
 have  been continuously serving in office as of December 15, 2021 or the
 date prescribed by their appointment through January 31, 2022.
