Provides that the coroner, coroner's physician or medical examiner shall promptly report to the division of veterans' services, in a form developed and provided by such division, any death which appears to be a suicide by a person who, to the knowledge of the coroner, coroner's physician or medical examiner, is a veteran; a report shall be provided to the governor and legislature on certain suicide statistics no later than June 13, 2024.

Section 677 of the county law is amended by adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows: 10. THE CORONER, CORONER'S PHYSICIAN OR MEDICAL EXAMINER SHALL PROMPT- LY REPORT TO THE DIVISION OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS, IN A ONE PAGE FORM DEVELOPED AND PROVIDED BY SUCH DIVISION, ANY DEATH WHICH APPEARS TO BE A SUICIDE BY A PERSON WHO, TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CORONER, CORONER'S PHYSICIAN OR MEDICAL EXAMINER, IS A VETERAN. § 2. Section 353 of the executive law is amended by adding a new subdivision 25 to read as follows: 25. TO DEVELOP A ONE PAGE FORM BY WHICH A CORONER, CORONER'S PHYSICIAN OR MEDICAL EXAMINER SHALL FILL OUT TO REPORT TO THE DIVISION ANY DEATH WHICH APPEARS TO BE A SUICIDE BY A PERSON WHO, TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CORONER, CORONER'S PHYSICIAN OR MEDICAL EXAMINER, IS A VETERAN. THIS FORM SHALL PROVIDE THE ADDRESS TO WHICH THE FORM IS TO BE MAILED OR SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY. § 3. Within 60 days of the effective date of this act, the division of veterans' affairs shall establish and implement the procedures and forms necessary for the implementation of this act. § 4.
