FALL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to including informa- tion on congenital heart defect births in the informational leaflets required to be given to maternity patients THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as "Paul's law". § 2. Section 2803-j of the public health law, as amended by chapter 62 of the laws of 1996, is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-e to read as follows: 1-E. THE INFORMATIONAL LEAFLET SHALL ALSO INCLUDE INFORMATION RELATED TO CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT BIRTHS, INCLUDING TREATMENT REQUIREMENTS, AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE. § 3. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11477-01-3
