BILL NUMBER: S5348 SPONSOR: HARCKHAM TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the tax law, in relation to the imposition of sales and compensating use taxes in the county of Putnam PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Authorizes the county of Putnam to extend the one percent county sales tax for an additional three years. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one authorizes Putnam County to extend the one percent county sales tax granted to the county by clause 39 of subparagraph (i) of section 1210 of the tax law until November thirtieth, two thousand twen- ty-six. Section two states the effective date.

HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to the imposition of sales and compensating use taxes in the county of Putnam THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause 39 of subparagraph (i) of the opening paragraph of section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by section 1 of item KK of subpart C of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is amended to read as follows: (39) the county of Putnam is hereby further authorized and empowered to adopt and amend local laws, ordinances or resolutions imposing such taxes at a rate that is: (i) one-half of one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period beginning September first, two thousand five and ending August thirty-first, two thousand seven; and (ii) one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period beginning September first, two thousand seven and ending November thirtieth, two thousand [twenty-three] TWENTY-SIX; § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD09909-01-3
