BILL NUMBER: S8184 SPONSOR: MANNION TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 670 of the laws of 2021 requiring the office for people with developmental disabilities to establish the care demon- stration program, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to extend, until March 31, 2026, the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities' (OPWDD) authority to admin- ister the care demonstration program to ensure community based services continue for individuals with disabilities. MANNION -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Disabilities AN ACT to amend chapter 670 of the laws of 2021 requiring the office for people with developmental disabilities to establish the care demon- stration program, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of chapter 670 of the laws of 2021 requiring the office for people with developmental disabilities to establish the care demonstration program, is amended to read as follows: § 3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed March 31, [2024] 2026. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13885-02-3
