BILL NUMBER: S1889 SPONSOR: ASHBY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the state law, in relation to designating the state of New York a purple heart state PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To amend the state law, in relation to designating the state of New York a Purple Heart state. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. State law is amended by adding section 92. This designates the state of New York as a Purple Heart State Section 2 sets forth the effective date. JUSTIFICATION:

ASHBY, ADDABBO, BORRELLO, CANZONERI-FITZPATRICK, GALLIVAN, MATTERA, MURRAY, OBERACKER, O'MARA, ORTT, PALUMBO, RHOADS, ROLISON, STEC, TEDISCO, WALCZYK, WEBER, WEIK -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investi- gations and Government Operations AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to designating the state of New York a purple heart state THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 93 to read as follows: § 93. PURPLE HEART STATE. THE STATE OF NEW YORK IS DESIGNATED A "PURPLE HEART STATE", HONORING OUR COMBAT VETERANS FOR THEIR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE. § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- ing the date upon which it shall have become a law. Effective immediate- ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such date.
