BILL NUMBER: S7737 SPONSOR: CLEARE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 462 of the laws of 2015, amending the elder law relating to long term care ombudsman access to assisted living facili- ties, in relation to the effectiveness of certain provisions of such chapter PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to extend certain provisions of the Long- Term Care Ombudsman Program for an additional two years. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of the bill would extend the authorization of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program to advocate on behalf of managed long-term care participants until December 31, 2027. Section two would establish the effective date.

CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Aging AN ACT to amend chapter 462 of the laws of 2015, amending the elder law relating to long term care ombudsman access to assisted living facili- ties, in relation to the effectiveness of certain provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 462 of the laws of 2015, amending the elder law relating to long term care ombudsman access to assisted living facilities, as amended by chapter 303 of the laws of 2023, is amended to read as follows: § 5. This act shall take effect immediately; provided however that the amendments to paragraph [(b)] (D) of subdivision 1 of section 218 of the elder law made by section two of this act shall take effect December 31, [2025] 2027; provided, however, that the provisions of section four of this act shall expire on the same date as section two of this act takes effect when upon such date the provisions of section four of this act shall be deemed repealed. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11726-01-5
