 AN  ACT  to  amend  the  social services law, in relation to authorizing
   certain shelters to be reimbursed for housing a single individual in a
   room intended for double occupancy

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Section  131-u  of  the social services law is amended by
 adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows:
   3. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW  TO  THE  CONTRARY,  ANY
 RESIDENTIAL  PROGRAM  FOR  VICTIMS  OF  DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AS DEFINED IN
 SECTION FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE-A OF THIS CHAPTER, WHICH PROVIDES TEMPO-
 RARY HOUSING ASSISTANCE TO A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS SUCH  PROGRAM'S
 NECESSARY  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS, SHALL BE REIMBURSED FOR ANY PAYMENT
 DIFFERENTIAL FOR HOUSING A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL  IN  A  ROOM  INTENDED  FOR
 DOUBLE  OCCUPANCY,  IF  NO  OTHER  ROOM INTENDED FOR SINGLE OCCUPANCY IS
 AVAILABLE WITHIN THE FACILITY.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 AN ACT to amend the social services  law,  in  relation  to  authorizing
   domestic violence shelters to be reimbursed for housing a single indi-
   vidual in a room intended for double occupancy
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 131-u of the social  services  law  is  amended  by
 adding two new subdivisions 3 and 4 to read as follows:
   3. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, A RESI-
 DENTIAL  PROGRAM FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AS DEFINED IN SECTION
 FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE-A OF THIS CHAPTER, WHICH OPERATES  AN  EMERGENCY
 SHELTER WITH AT LEAST TEN BEDS AND PROVIDES TEMPORARY HOUSING ASSISTANCE
 TO  A  SINGLE  INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS SUCH PROGRAM'S NECESSARY ELIGIBILITY
 REQUIREMENTS, SHALL BE REIMBURSED FOR THE PAYMENT DIFFERENTIAL, IF  ANY,
 FOR HOUSING A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL IN A ROOM INTENDED FOR DOUBLE OCCUPANCY,
 IF  NO  OTHER ROOM INTENDED FOR SINGLE OCCUPANCY IS AVAILABLE WITHIN THE
 FACILITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
   (A) FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL FIRST,  TWO  THOUSAND  TWENTY-
 SEVEN THE REIMBURSEMENT SHALL BE FIFTY PERCENT OF ANY COST DIFFERENTIAL;
   (B)  FOR  THE  FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-
 EIGHT THE REIMBURSEMENT  SHALL  BE  SEVENTY-FIVE  PERCENT  OF  ANY  COST
 DIFFERENTIAL; AND
   (C)  FOR  THE  FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-
 NINE THE REIMBURSEMENT SHALL BE ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF ANY COST  DIFFER-
 ENTIAL.
