BILL NUMBER: S8231 SPONSOR: RAMOS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 413 of the laws of 2003 amending the labor law relating to the self-employment assistance program and other matters, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to extend to December 7, 2027, certain provisions relating to the establishment and operation of the Self-Em- ployment Assistance Program (SEAP). SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one would modify the expiration of relevant provisions from December 7, 2025, to December 7, 2027. Section two would set the effective date.

RAMOS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend chapter 413 of the laws of 2003 amending the labor law relating to the self-employment assistance program and other matters, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 10 of chapter 413 of the laws of 2003 amending the labor law relating to the self-employment assistance program and other matters, as amended by chapter 293 of the laws of 2023, is amended to read as follows: § 10. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that sections eight and nine of this act shall expire December 7, [2025] 2027 when upon such date the provisions of such sections shall be deemed repealed. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11546-01-5
