BILL NUMBER: S8273 SPONSOR: STEWART-COUSINS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 118 of the laws of 1969, relating to a separate union free school district in the town of Greenburgh in the county of Westchester, in relation to property used by the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 and authorizing such school district to affiliate with Rising Ground, Inc.; and to repeal subdivi- sion b of section 5 of chapter 118 of the laws of 1969, relating to a separate union free school district in the town of Greenburgh in the county of Westchester, relating to authorizing the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 to affiliate with any child care institution or entity other than St. Christopher's School, Inc. PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District to affiliate with Rising Ground, Inc. to continue providing educational services beyond the 20242025 school year.

STEWART-COUSINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend chapter 118 of the laws of 1969, relating to a separate union free school district in the town of Greenburgh in the county of Westchester, in relation to property used by the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 and authorizing such school district to affiliate with Rising Ground, Inc.; and to repeal subdivision b of section 5 of chapter 118 of the laws of 1969, relat- ing to a separate union free school district in the town of Greenburgh in the county of Westchester, relating to authorizing the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 to affiliate with any child care institution or entity other than St. Christopher's School, Inc. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 118 of the laws of 1969, relating to a separate union free school district in the town of Greenburgh in the county of Westchester, as added by chapter 179 of the laws of 2024, is amended to read as follows: § 5. a. Notwithstanding section three AND FOUR of this act, the Green- burgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 of the towns of Greenburgh and North Castle in the county of Westchester shall continue to constitute a separate union free school district during the 2024-2025 school year AND THEREAFTER and shall continue to have and enjoy all the powers and privileges of a union free school district under the provisions of the education law. For purposes of continuing to provide instruction to students enrolled in the school district during the 2024-2025 school year AND THEREAFTER, the territory of the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District number 12 created by this chap- ter shall include property identified in lease agreements executed by the school district including the [agency] lease for the school facility EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
