February 11, 2015
(White Plains - February 11th) Senator Stewart-Cousins spoke about the importance of community service and giving back at the press conference celebrating Volunteer New York!'s 65th Anniversary. The press conference featured a symbolic phone which represents the first call made by Mrs. Jane Schwartz who founded the organization when she realized there was no resource to connect individuals with volunteer opportunities. Since then, Volunteer! New York has grown to serve Westchester County, Rockland County, and Putnam County, and continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community.
