State Senator Shelley Mayer and Distracted Driving Prevention advocates to host Textalyzer Round Table in Albany to examine new technology to expose and address distracted driving

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

On Monday, April 29th, State Senator Senator Shelley B. Mayer (D-Westchester); Ben Lieberman, Founder of the Alliance Combating Distracted Driving; other elected officials; and distracted driving prevention advocates will host a round table to explore the Textalyzer technology which allows for detection of mobile device use in the event of a motor vehicle crash. Textalyzer technology developer, Cellebrite, will perform live demonstrations of the technology during the round table.

State Senator Shelley Mayer and Assemblymember Amy Paulin are sponsors of S.2687/A.7267 which establishes a pilot program to detect illegal swiping or typing on mobile devices in the event of a motor vehicle crash. The Textalyzer technology gathers mobile device use data, a time-stamp of when the driver swiped or typed, without accessing personal content. Round table participants will discuss challenges in addressing distracted driving due to mobile device use without Textalyzer technology, the impact and costs of distracted driving, and the feasibility and logistics of implementing a Textalyzer program. After remarks and discussions, press and attendees will have an opportunity to direct questions to participants and Textalyzer technology developer.
