On June 17, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed the Emergency Rent Relief Act, introduced by Senator Kavanagh and Assembly Housing Chair Steven Cymbrowitz, which will create a new program through the State Division of Housing and Community Renewal to pay $100 million in rent for some of the New Yorkers with the greatest rent burden during the COVID-19 shutdown.
