Senator Julia Salazar Commences the Second Women's Issues Committee Meeting of the 2020 Legislative Session

Senator Julia Salazar, Chair of the New York State Senate Women's Issues Committee

The Chair of the Women's Issues Committee, Senator Julia Salazar, delegated two pieces of legislation that was before the committee.

On the agenda, the four bills were voted on as followed:

Senator Biaggi – S3126 (Refer to Finance)

S3126 is an act to amend the public health law in relation to establishing the women’s health education program for correctional facilities and rights of pregnant inmates; to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring certain testing to be offered; to amend the correction law, in relation to providing pregnant inmates with access to prenatal vitamins and a specialized diet; and to require the department of health to collect data on women’s health care in prisons and publish a report.

S5089 is an act to amend the public health law, in relation to enacting the “public university emergency contraception education act”
