“The Trump administration continues its assault on working class families by ending a policy that would have prevented children from being kicked off of their health coverage. I am enraged by the CMS announcement, which is another horrendous example of governing by press release. This move will mean children five years old and younger will lose continuous enrollment in health insurance through Medicaid or CHIP and it follows the bill passed by Republican Congressmembers to subject adults to burdensome new eligibility requirements for Medicaid that will undoubtedly kick them off their coverage as well."
"Working class New Yorkers trying to access health insurance for themselves and their children will soon find themselves in a cycle of deliberately excessive government bureaucracy to qualify for essential healthcare coverage, which will cost New York taxpayers hundreds of millions a year and are designed pay for the Trump administration’s tax cuts for the wealthiest people in our country."
“I will never stop pointing out how the actions of the Trump administration and the Republican majority in Congress, including denying children healthcare, are meant to keep their yacht-owning donors happy. That is who they really care about. Not everyday New Yorkers.”
