"First of all, I am incredibly disappointed by the 8 Democratic Senators, who coincidentally are not facing a primary next year, for siding with Republicans and allowing the shutdown to end without securing an extension of the enhanced premium tax credits."
"This is a five alarm fire in the health coverage space and the sad reality is that hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers will either lose their healthcare coverage or see their health insurance premiums skyrocket because of this vote."
"Republicans have made their desire to destroy the Affordable Care Act clear since it became law in 2010. With this vote, made possible by this group of Democratic Senators, they helped lay the groundwork to do exactly that, and moved us further away from making healthcare affordable and accessible. Combined with the devastating Medicaid cuts earlier this year, this vote exacerbates the healthcare affordability crisis that millions of working people across the country are already facing. I urge House Democrats especially New York's Congressional delegation to hold the line and use every mechanism at their disposal to secure these tax credits once and for all."
"This is not a drill. New York State must respond decisively and protect the healthcare of millions of New Yorkers especially the most vulnerable, at all costs. This requires bold solutions to both raise revenue and protect healthcare coverage options. I’m ready to go Albany immediately to act and will be calling my colleagues to do the same.”
