On March 27th, Senator Serrano participated in CB8’s Youth, Education, and Libraries Joint Meeting with the Arts Committee. He joined Councilmembers Julie Menin and Keith Powers, as well as arts advocate and Director of New Yorkers for Culture & Arts Lucy Sexton. The meeting brought together local elected officials, dedicated arts advocates, and community leaders to discuss the critical importance of sustained funding for arts education in schools. Discussions focused on the vital role that arts programs play in cultivating creativity, fostering cultural understanding, and promoting personal development among students. The aim was to keep community members and legislators informed about the pressing need for increased investment in arts education, essential for nurturing the next generation of artists and informed citizens throughout the city and state.
