Senate Committee Meeting on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation

On February 4th, Senator Serrano held the first meeting of the 2025 Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks, and Recreation in Albany. Committee members reviewed and voted on several key pieces of legislation aimed at enhancing community engagement and environmental stewardship. 

This agenda included two bills sponsored by Senator Serrano. The first bill aimed to establish a comprehensive legislative task force dedicated to promoting outdoor environmental education and recreation and to provide resources and training for both educators and the community to foster a greater appreciation for the state’s natural heritage. The second bill is designed to promote the establishment and sustainability of farmers' markets within state parks, incentivizing local agriculture and encouraging healthier eating habits while also enhancing the visitor experience in these natural spaces.
