State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today awarded $128,000 to the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 951, located in Clay. This funding will be used for outdoor renovations, including a new security system and the building of a new pavilion.

“Our VFW’s are always there for our veterans, providing advocacy, assistance and a sense of camaraderie for those who have served overseas,” said Senator Ryan. “This investment will help VFW Post 951 make important improvements to its facility, creating a safer and more welcoming space for veterans and their families to gather. I’m proud to support the men and women who have served our country and ensure our local veterans organizations have the resources they need to continue their important work in our community.”

In addition to the outdoor renovations, the funding provided by Senator Ryan will also support the purchasing of a new rifle safe for ceremonial rifles owned by the VFW.

“Without this grant, our post would not be able to accomplish the level of modernization that we want to,” said VFW Post 951 member Ed Szczesniak. “Fortunately, Senator Ryan has helped us with this funding, enabling us to do all things we do in the community. I’d like to thank Senator Ryan for his support.”
