A State Budget that Delivers for Our Community (SFY 2026-2027)

ISSUE:
- NYS Budget
Last week, after a very long process, we passed our enacted state budget for 2026-27. This budget contains funding and priorities that are critically important for the 29th Senate District and for communities across New York State, including:
- Increases funding for local schools
- Expands SCIE and DRIE programs
- Expands Universal Pre-K
- Provides critical funding for arts and cultures locally and statewide
- Secures funding for investments in environmental conservation and protection initiatives
- Provides parks funding to increase access to green spaces
- Bans agreements between ICE and local law enforcement
- Provides funding for the East River Esplanade
- Increases funding for CUNY and SUNY schools
- Continues funding for NYCHA, public housing and other housing assistance programs
- Increases funding for public protection efforts
