State Sen. Shelley Mayer arranged for Barker to meet with the former employees, saying she was worried that workers were being overlooked. 

"These are either my constituents or people that needed a voice," Mayer said. "They're not corporate, they don't have money. They've given their life and blood to this place and someone just walked away and left them holding the bag."

The owner of the property, DCCA, former lender US Bank, and current lender Anderson Hill Road Capital have been battling over financial responsibilities in court during foreclosure proceedings. A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
