WOODBURY – The State DEC has granted the Village of Woodbury lead agency status for the pending annexation application of Ace Farm. Landowners petitioned to move the property from Woodbury to Kiryas Joel earlier this year.

This means the Village of Woodbury will be responsible for the proposal’s review of environmental impacts. State Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) wrote to the DEC in June, urging them to grant Woodbury lead agency status. Kiryas Joel submitted a competing application to administer the environmental review.

“I worked with local partners towards this outcome and fully expect a rigorous evaluation to now get underway,” Skoufis said.

“Once the unacceptably, but unsurprisingly acrimonious local elections conclude in Woodbury, I look forward to working with whomever takes office to ensure a fair and thorough review,” Skoufis said. “More broadly, we must unite our extremely divided community that cannot continue to stand so divided, and I am committed to working towards that end.”
