Senator Ryan to Host Two Free Utility Assistance Clinics to Help Residents Lower Energy Costs
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50), in partnership with the Public Utility Law Project (PULP) and community organizations, will host two free utility assistance clinics to help residents access programs that can lower their monthly energy bills and improve home energy efficiency.
Clinics will be held:
- May 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Syracuse, 5655 Thompson Rd, Syracuse, NY 13214
- June 10 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial, 609 W Broadway, Fulton, NY 13069
Trained advocates from PULP and partner organizations will provide one-on-one assistance to help residents:
- Check eligibility for programs such as National Grid’s Energy Affordability Program (EAP) and Extended Energy Affordability Program (EEAP), which offer monthly bill discounts
- Review their utility bills to ensure they are enrolled in all available savings programs
- Learn about energy efficiency programs that can help reduce long-term costs, including home insulation improvements
- Get answers to questions about their utility service and billing
National Grid customers will also have the opportunity to speak directly with company representatives about their accounts, including options such as payment agreements and budget billing.
“Too many families across Central New York are struggling to keep up with rising utility costs,” said Senator Ryan. “These clinics are about meeting people where they are and making sure they’re connected to every available resource to lower their bills, improve energy efficiency, and keep their homes safe and warm. If you’re feeling the strain of high energy costs, we’re here to help.”
Residents planning to attend are encouraged to bring a copy of their utility bills, a valid form of identification and documentation of any public assistance benefits, such as HEAP, SNAP, or SSI (if available).
