STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York State Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Charles D. Fall recently announced a $6.5 million investment to build a year-round athletic complex at PS 57 in the Park Hill section of Clifton, addressing a longstanding gap in recreational infrastructure for one of Staten Island’s most underserved neighborhoods.

Fall was joined by state Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon and local education and community leaders for the announcement.

Scarcella-Spanton secured $1.5 million of the total funding. She emphasized the role of safe spaces in keeping young people engaged.

“We know that one of the most effective ways to keep young people in our community safe is by ensuring they have access to positive opportunities, spaces where they can grow, stay active, and feel supported,” Scarcella-Spanton said. “Time and again, we’ve heard from residents about the importance of having a dedicated community space in Park Hill. Today, we are delivering on that need.”
