1921 Foundation Award: Senator Shelley Mayer
The Picture House is proud to honor Shelley Mayer with the 1921 Foundation Award, which recognizes elected officials who have gone above and beyond to advance our mission. Senator Mayer has been a steadfast supporter of The Picture House since we began operating our historic nonprofit theater in Bronxville. Through her advocacy and generous state support, we were able to launch The Studio in Bronxville in 2023, now the heart of our education programs and community events, and most recently secure a CREST grant that will enable major renovations at our Bronxville and Pelham theaters. A frequent and enthusiastic attendee at our fundraising events, Senator Mayer’s commitment reflects a deep belief in the power of film, education, and the arts to strengthen communities. An experienced and progressive leader, she has represented Westchester’s 37th Senate District since 2018, previously served in the New York State Assembly, and currently chairs the State Senate Education Committee – making her partnership with The Picture House especially meaningful and impactful.
The Bronxville Century Award: Lisa Rao
The Picture House is proud to honor Lisa Rao as the first recipient of the Bronxville Century Award, recognizing her extraordinary dedication to community life and civic leadership. A longtime friend and collaborator of The Picture House, Lisa has played an active role in many of our signature events, including Marquee Night and Party on Kraft. For more than two decades, she has been a tireless Bronxville volunteer – chairing the Village of Bronxville’s 125th Anniversary Celebration; serving as President of both the Junior League of Bronxville and the Bronxville School PTA; and leading fundraising and governance efforts across institutions including the Bronxville Historical Conservancy, Bronxville Field Club, OSilas Gallery, Reformed Church Nursery School and the Bronxville School Foundation, where she currently serves as Director of Fundraising and Finance Administrator. With a professional background in Broadway and touring theatrical productions and a lifelong commitment to the arts, education, and service, Lisa embodies the spirit of Bronxville – and we are honored to celebrate her with this inaugural award.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Owen Berkowitz
The Picture House is honored to recognize Owen Berkowitz with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Marquee Night 2026, celebrating decades of extraordinary leadership, generosity, and community impact. A longtime Westchester resident and steadfast supporter of The Picture House, Owen has been a champion of our mission since its earliest days – famously offering up the bakery he owned at the time as a gathering place for late-night strategy meetings with the organization’s founders. From those beginnings, his commitment only deepened: he has been a Film Club subscriber since inception, a former advisor to the Pelham Picture House Board, and the chief sponsor of Marquee Night and multiple Picnic in the Park events. Founder and principal of the Berkowitz Marrone Team at Christie’s International Real Estate, Owen’s commitment to civic life extends across the arts, education, and service—from youth programs and historic preservation to food justice and housing security. His lifetime of giving, leadership, and joyfully hands-on community spirit embodies everything Marquee Night celebrates.
