
Addabbo Statement Following Governor’s Announcement of Howard Beach Resiliency Project

Queens, NY, December 2, 2013 -- NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach), released the following statement following Governor Cuomo’s announcement:
Addressing the flooding problem in Howard Beach is long overdue. Although many have tried, obtaining the governmental funding seemed nearly impossible. I am grateful for the efforts of Governor Cuomo in announcing that federal funding has been approved for a $50 million project to protect the community from future storm flooding. I am most interested in the timeframe of this major project, since flood mitigation is a serious concern for my constituents, and the scope of this project is to ensure all parts of Howard Beach, inclusive of New and Old Howard, as well as Hamilton Beach. A project like this cannot happen fast enough. I look forward to working with all related governmental agencies to see this project start as soon as possible.
