Statement by NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. on Rate of Hurricane Sandy Funding Expenditures by City
Joseph P. Addabbo Jr
June 10, 2015
Queens, NY (June 9, 2015): "As I read the NY Post article that only 16% of the Sandy funds have been spent by the city so far, I thought of the rising blood pressure and frustration of my constituents who read the same article and sustained damages from Sandy. I also remind myself that the large sums of monies allocated for flood mitigation and resiliency must be spent on credible projects that have been deemed realistic, so as not to waste these funds. The larger the project, the more planning and research involved, which takes time. I will continue to advocate for post-Sandy projects to be done expeditiously and efficiently in order to protect my residents against future storms and flood damage."
