Electronics Recycling Event June 9 at Fairgrounds

Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) is hosting an electronics recycling event in partnership with Sunnking Electronics Recycling and Spectrum on Saturday, June 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New York State Fairgrounds (Gate 7), Syracuse. Area residents can drop off old and unused electronics at no charge and, with the exception of tube TVs and monitors, there is no limit to the number of items that may be dropped off. There is a limit of four (4) tube TVs and monitors per vehicle.

New York State law prohibits certain types of electronics from being discarded in the trash or placed curbside for trash pickup. These items must be recycled.

“This free recycling event is an easy and convenient way for residents to safely and legally dispose of their old electronics,” Sen. Valesky said.

Items that can be accepted include computers (desktops and laptops), printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, televisions (CRT (limit 4), LCD, LED, plasma), cell phones, IT and networking equipment, monitors (CRT (limit 4), LCD, LED), MP3 players, PDAs, tablets, and ink and toner cartridges. Visit Sunnking.com for a full list of acceptable items (http://www.sunnking.com/consumer-business/acceptable-materials/).

A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit InterFaith Works and South Sudanese Community, based on the total weight of materials collected.
