Senator Persaud Hosting Third Annual Senate District 19 Free Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 13 in Brooklyn

The event will be held at Canarsie Park on Seaview Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11236 at the East 88th St entrance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be games and activities for the families and children as well as light refreshments, free giveaways and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Entry is free but families are asked to bring a basket for each child; and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Last year's event featured many sponsors, vendors and volunteers and turned out a huge success with hundreds in attendance. The children collected over 1,500 colored eggs filled with candy and five lucky kids found golden eggs with special prizes — four gift cards for school uniforms from S&D Kids and one $40 gift card. The families enjoyed activities such as face painting and balloon making and Senator Persaud actively passed out bags of goodies and encouraged attendees to meet the Easter Bunny.

“It was a pleasure to have so many young families come out for this event to enjoy the season and interact with me, my staff and our community partner organizations,” Senator Persaud said last year. “It is important that these children and parents are able to have fun here at home, and learn more about all that our district and surrounding community has to offer. These events help further my vision for a vibrant and prosperous 19th Senate District, and I am thrilled that this was such a resounding success.”

This year, in expectancy of an even larger turnout, Senator Persaud's Office is bringing over 5,000 eggs for the children to collect. The event was made possible with the help of sponsors Broadway Stages, Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, Canarsie Lions Club, the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York (CCA Metro), David Optical, Millennium Development, the New York City Police Department and S&D Kids as well as community partners.

Brookdale Hospital's vice president, Khari O. Edwards, said: "One Brooklyn Health at Brookdale Hospital is excited to again participate in the Easter Egg Hunt with Senator Persaud. The senator has continued to display amazing leadership and dedication for the constituents of District 19. We are honored to be part of this annual event."

Broadway Stages CEO Gina Argento said, "We are excited to be part of Senator Persaud’s Easter Egg Hunt, giving the children of South Brooklyn a fun, family-filled afternoon celebrating the Easter holiday. We are a company with local roots and understand the importance of giving back to the community. We are grateful to be able to celebrate this holiday with our community.”

CCA Metro's director of community relations, Amir Abbady, said, "Union carpenters and contractors are proud to build this city, and we are happy to give back to the Brooklyn community so many of our members call home."
