
Statement from Senator Helming on Nominee for Chief Judge of Court of Appeals

The Senate Democratic Conference does not want judges who follow the law, they want judges who follow their lead. The Judiciary is and must always be a separate and independent branch of government. I voted no on the nominee for Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. His rulings putting criminals over victims are extremely concerning, shocking and wrong. He is not qualified to lead the state’s highest court.
