Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick Responds to Wilson Nomination Approval

Today, with the Senate Judiciary Committee advancing the nomination of the Honorable Rowan Wilson, we have yet another example of Albany prioritizing criminals over victims. Between overturning a first-degree rape conviction and supporting the release of a criminal who assaulted an elderly victim, I raised concerns about the nominee's qualifications because of his lack of regard for victims' rights - especially as the Majority refuses to enact laws in response to the New Yorkers who are begging for safer streets and more accountability. I was disappointed that the Hon. Hector LaSalle was rejected by the Senate Majority in February, despite being an incredibly qualified jurist. Sadly, this whole process seems to be business as usual in Albany and New Yorkers are always on the receiving end of the inevitable unfortunate outcomes.
