Danielle Ellman Receives ‘Woman of Distinction’ Award from Senator Stavisky

Senator Toby Ann Stavisky Presents Commonpoint President & CEO Danielle Ellman with a NYS Woman of Distinction Award

QUEENS- Senator Toby Ann Stavisky formally presented Commonpoint President and CEO Danielle Ellman with a 2023 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction Award, which celebrates women who have improved the lives of others.

“Danielle Ellman is a hands-on leader in our community,” stated Senator Toby Ann Stavisky. “Under the leadership of Ms. Ellman, Commonpoint has provided a wide range of services that impact the lives of countless individuals each year. Organizing and executing such a wide range of services- from youth sports to literacy classes and wellness programs, to name a few- impacts so many lives. Ms. Ellman is truly committed to the growth and betterment of our community.”

"I stand on Senator Stavisky’s shoulders and I hope that I’m creating shoulders that are strong enough for someone to stand on mine,” says Commonpoint Queens CEO Danielle Ellman. "I'm so honored to receive this distinction, and if I can inspire another woman to take on a leadership role or if I can be a part of supporting a young woman to ascend into a leadership role that is something that I aspire to do and is incredibly meaningful to me."

Prior to her appointment at Commonpoint, Ms. Ellman was Executive Director of Central Queens YM & YWHA community center for eight years. The lifelong Queens resident has dedicated her life to social service and community growth and holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy Administration and an advanced certificate in Non-Profit Management from Johns Hopkins University.
