State Senator Christopher J. Ryan celebrated the $1.75 million in funding secured for the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) in the FY26 New York State budget for the Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program (MIAP). MIAP, offered in 8 regions of the state, provides access to Registered Apprenticeships for all individuals and supports employers in developing their own programs to assist with recruitment, skill development and retention.
The event was hosted at CNY Fabrications in Syracuse, NY, a longtime MACNY partner that, along with other Central New York employers, helped design and launch MACNY’s Registered Apprenticeship Group Sponsorship program in 2017.
“With a surge of workers headed to Central New York, skilled apprenticeship training is more important than ever,” said Senator Ryan. “Investing in programs like MIAP means a stronger and more robust workforce in the region, and across the state, ensuring that we are ready for all of the growth that is coming.”
Serving over 300 businesses and organizations across New York, for over a century MACNY has supported the manufacturing community and is a proud partner with the New York State Department of Labor.
“This funding ensures that manufacturers across New York have the tools they need to build and sustain a skilled workforce,” said Randy Wolken, President & CEO of MACNY. “Through MIAP, we’re able to expand access to Registered Apprenticeships for individuals while helping employers grow, innovate, and remain competitive. We are grateful to Senator Ryan and New York State for their continued commitment to strengthening our workforce and advancing opportunities in manufacturing.”
