Hundreds Attend Addabbo's E-Waste And Paint Recycling Event
October 9, 2025

Many types of e-waste were collected.
State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. hosted his free bi-annual electronic waste recycling event on October 5, 2025, at the Forest Park Bandshell Parking Lot. The Lower East Side Ecology Center collected electronic waste including new, outdated, and broken devices. A partnership with PaintCare allowed Addabbo’s Office to accept paint donations during this event for the second time.
Almost 300 people attended the four-hour event, lining up early to drop off a variety of e-waste and paint. The Lower East Side Ecology Center estimates that they collected 8,934 pounds of e-waste, while PaintCare estimates it collected 6,591 pounds of latex paint and 2,976 pounds of oil-based paint, or the equivalent of 9,567 total gallons of paint.
Senator Addabbo emphasized the importance of using proper disposal practices for these products, noting that improper recycling of electronics and paint can cause hazardous chemical contamination of landfills, water supplies, and soils.
“Correctly recycling e-waste and paint reduces environmental harm and health risks for residents, safeguards the Earth and helps build a sustainable future,” Addabbo said. “I organize this event at Forest Park twice annually to provide the community with a convenient, nearby place to drop off these items.”
Senator Addabbo would like to thank all of the event partners, especially the Parks Department and G-COP/104COP for their support.
