Albany, New York -- Senator Julia Salazar, sponsor of Dignity Not Detention, released the following statement in response to Hudson Common Council’s recent resolutions:
“I applaud the City of Hudson for its resolutions in support of Dignity Not Detention and New York For All. Every single day we watch ICE violently abduct another child, another mother, another high schooler. Instead of protecting vulnerable New Yorkers, the state of New York is helping ICE disappear and detain people. We even have video footage of police officers in New York City attacking protestors who are standing up to ICE. Dignity Not Detention and New York For All would begin to put an end to New York’s shameful collaboration with ICE. Time is running out for lawmakers and the governor to take action.”
