November 24, 2025
(Binghamton, NY) - Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) announced that more than $100,000 in Local Emergency Food Relief Equipment grants were awarded to organizations across Senate District 52 to support ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and hunger in the community. This funding is part of the state’s ongoing commitment to feed New Yorkers and support the organizations working on the ground to ensure food gets to the families who need it.
“These grants represent a critical investment in the infrastructure that supports food security in our state,” said Senator Lea Webb. “By providing organizations with the equipment they need to safely store, transport, and distribute food, we are strengthening our emergency response capacity and expanding access for the most vulnerable. I remain committed to advancing policies that uplift families and reinforce the essential work of our community partners.”
Senate District 52 received the following funding through the State’s Environmental Protection Fund (EPF):
- $56,000 for Seven Valleys Health Coalition to purchase a pickup truck, bed topper for the truck and three insulated food storage containers. This equipment will help to expand two of their programs Seven Valleys Food Rescue and Produce Prescription.
- $46,495.76 for Catholic Charities of Broome County to purchase a 2024 Food Transit Cargo Van and insulated food delivery cooler bags to expand its ability to deliver food to individuals, families, and unhoused individuals who are unable to visit their food pantry.
- $10,500 for Catholic Charities of Tompkins and Tioga Counties to purchase two generators to preserve the fresh food donations to its emergency food pantry and feeding programs that serve residents in times of power outages including those caused by disasters.
- $6,523 for Broome County Council of Churches Inc. to purchase three electric pallet jacks with built in scales for their hunger relief program, Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.
Administered by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) with funding from the State's Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), these grants range from $1,200 to $100,000 to help organizations purchase emergency generators and equipment used for cooling and transporting donated food and expand the quantity and type of food emergency food relief organizations can provide to New Yorkers in need.
