The award honors individuals whose leadership and service reflect the enduring legacy of Lt. Det. Joseph (Giuseppe) Petrosino, a trailblazing New York City Police Officer from the early 1900s. Petrosino established the Bomb Squad, Canine Squad, and Undercover Squad — units that continue to play vital roles in modern policing.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award from an organization that represents the courage, integrity, and dedication of Lt. Petrosino,” said Senator Mattera. “I’m deeply grateful to my staff, friends, and family — especially my wife Terry — for joining me to celebrate this special recognition.”

The Lt. Det. Joseph Petrosino Association in America recognizes individuals who make a difference in law enforcement, public service, government, education, and business.
