State Senator Pam Helming joined athletes, families, and community members at the East Palmyra Christian    School Trap Team Banquet, held Saturday, November 8, at Grace Baptist Church in Marion.

The event celebrated the team’s successful fall season. The team earned an impressive third-place finish out of seven competing teams.

Senator Helming congratulated the young athletes, parents, and coach Bert Hellis for setting a positive example through his leadership and dedication, teaching not only marksmanship and safety but also focus, discipline, and teamwork.

“Programs like this reflect what makes our small towns so special, a strong sense of community, shared values, and people who care deeply about giving the next generation a chance to succeed.” Senator Helming added, “Opportunities like this introduce young people to safe and responsible shooting sports, and they help ensure that our hunting and shooting traditions remain strong for generations to come.”
