Senator Pam Helming is inviting children and teens across her district to take part in the 2025 Summer Reading Program, themed “Color Our World: Colorea Nuestro Mundo.” This free program promotes the joy of reading and discovery for young people of all ages throughout the summer months.
Children who read three or more books by the end of summer will receive a personalized Summer Reading Certificate signed by Senator Helming. Families currently participating in their local library’s summer reading program are encouraged to also participate in this program.
Senator Helming said, “Reading with children builds creativity and connection. When kids read on their own, they go on journeys, explore new ideas, and expand their imaginations. It’s so important to keep that spark alive during the summer months. Whether you're in elementary school, high school, or anywhere in between—pick up a book, visit your local library, and join us in celebrating the power of reading!”
To participate, parents or guardians can visit helming.nysenate.gov, click on the Summer Reading Program icon, and enter their child’s name along with the titles of the books they’ve read. The deadline for submissions is August 22, 2025.
