FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY - Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick presented the Franklin Square Public Library with wall-mounted overdose emergency kits and naloxone first aid pouches as part of her continued efforts to prioritize public safety throughout New York State Senate District 9.
In recognition of the growing need to strengthen public safety in everyday community settings, Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick, with support from the Franklin Square Public Library, New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), and Project COPE, is providing Franklin Square residents with Narcan kits and related overdose response materials.
“By placing these kits in public locations like our libraries, we are giving everyday people the tools they need to prevent a tragedy and keep our community safe. Narcan saves lives, and giving residents access to such an important resource is crucial,” said Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick.
“We are so grateful that the Senator is so open and responsive to the library. Libraries are on the front lines of the community. To be able to help with distribution of NARCAN kits as well as access to AED helps the library as well as the people we serve,” said Aviva Kane, Franklin Square Library Director.
Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick will continue to prioritize public safety by partnering with state and local organizations and institutions to expand access to life-saving resources and ensure communities across Senate District 9 are prepared to respond in emergency situations.
