Senator Rolison Statement on Updates to the MTA Payroll Tax Affecting the MTA Region in the Hudson Valley

Following a press conference with his Senate colleagues, New York State Senator Rob Rolison (District 39), issued the following statement regarding the updates to the MTA Payroll Tax affecting the MTA region, including the Hudson Valley. 

“It’s plain and simple: this is a direct tax on employees. The proposed MTA payroll tax will limit employers’ ability to attract and retain top-tier talent, stifle job creation, and force businesses to make tough decisions that ultimately hurt hardworking employees across the MTA region — especially in the Hudson Valley. Our communities don’t have an endless stream of resources, and this added burden places unnecessary strain on both our workforce and our economy.”
