Senator Ryan Awards $205,000 to the Moyers Corners Fire Department
July 29, 2026
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today awarded $205,000 to the Moyers Corners Fire Department. This funding will be used to purchase new turnout gear and a new generator for Station 2, located at 7697 Morgan Rd. in the Town of Clay.
“Funding for our local volunteer fire departments is crucial,” said Senator Ryan. “Many of our volunteer departments operate on tight budgets, forcing them to delay important equipment upgrades and facility improvements. I'm proud to provide this funding so the Moyers Corners Fire Department has the equipment and resources they need to protect both their firefighters and the communities they serve.”
The Moyers Corners Fire Department was established in 1948 and services the Town of Clay and other neighboring municipalities through mutual aid agreements.
“The announcement of this grant is extremely timely,” said Moyers Corners Fire Department Vice President Stephen Wisely. “The Station #2 generator was recommended to be replaced in 2022, but due to budget constraints, the department did not have funds to replace it. Additionally, the new personal protective equipment will help our department comply with National Fire Protection Association standards. This grant from Senator Ryan helps replace a 25 year-old generator and provides the best available protective gear to our volunteer members.”
