State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today awarded $250,000 to the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District (FMCSD). The funding will be used to purchase and install a new in-ground rotary bus-lift at the school district’s bus garage.
“Our school districts are constantly balancing the need to invest in students while also maintaining the buildings, equipment, and infrastructure that keep schools running every day,” said Senator Ryan. “School bus maintenance may not always be top of mind, but having the right equipment to keep buses safe and on the road is essential. This funding will allow the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District to install a new bus lift without taking resources away from the classroom. I'm happy to support our school’s capital improvement projects, as they work hard to support our students.”
In-ground rotary bus lifts are used to safely lift heavy transit vehicles, allowing total access to the undercarriage of the vehicle. This makes transmission and drivetrain repairs much easier for mechanics.
“Taken as a whole, this department’s charge to transport precious cargo, our students, cannot effectively function without the tools needed to do their work,” said FMCSD Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey. “Senator Ryan’s grant to replace our bus lift not only ensures the safety of our mechanics, but benefits our entire system, especially our students and drivers.”
